Elections Zimbabwe Style
Anyway back to the Zimbabwe situation, the reality is that people are dying of cholera, a treatable disease which in any functioning society would be contained within a short space of time. The tragedy of it is that due to the political stand off in my country assistance in stemming the cholera tide has been minimal at best. I know that the aid agencies are doing their best given the situation in Zimbabwe, but a single death resulting from this treatable disease is one death too many. The numbers being thrown around estimate that about 750 people have died from the disease, and a further 16,000 have the dreaded disease.
The question is what am I doing about it? I have decided that I am going to rally the Zimbabweans living in Cayman Islands and raise whatever little we can to send to Zimbabwe to assist. The only problem is that I have not figured out yet which institution to send what ever we have raised because I do not want the funds to end up in some fat cat’s pocket. If you are Zimbabwean or have an interest in assisting Zimbabweans in this crisis please do something wherever you are… Better days will come to Zimbabwe and my people will forever be grateful.
